everything except religions;
As an under 15 A cricketer, I was fielding in the nets on the small top field. The 1st XI were practicing there. RLV Clarkson was batting - Nev Davies put one down. RLV Clarkson caught it in the middle of the bat, and it flew - straight at LCWT's chest. He dropped, pole-axed!
We all shut up, and breathless, Theo rose, slowly, and then the 1st gathered around him. He bent over holding his chest, over his heart. We crapped ourselves! RLV could hit a ball! This great coach was vulnerable! How could he who coached them get hit! That year the following played Springbok cricket - as I recall: Geoff Griffin, Hugh Tayfield, Trevor Goddard, Richard Dumbrill, Jonayhan Fellowes-Smith - all coached by Theo.
Jurassi...er...Maritzburg College could NEVER match that!
Theo: good man!
At 39 yrs travelled Europe for 18 months, mostly in a Kombi with 2 friends, one of whom is now beloved spouse. Had my 40 th birthday on a Greek island, after playing my last rugger match in that 40th year, for NU PMB vs Berea Rovers, sold a dummy and scampered thro, under the poles. Ha!
Kept up playing music to and for close friends; an awful amount of time in the bush; and loved my job with a passion: teaching
Roger's Latest Interactions

Indeed, as Joe Brown writes, roger Griffiths was a true "Berea Park Boy"; he played all the sport there, againstr and with so many talented sportsmen who learnt their games "in Berea Park"! Roger had a style about him, and everlasting smile, and he never gave up! He was always one to "pick" when we picked sides for the afternoon's game, whether cricket, touch, soccer or even Cowboys 'n Crooks ( he was a tough nit to bring down when cornered!). But he was also a pleasant fellow, with a recognition of every person's dignity! And that made him valuable company for us all. Rest in peace Roger!
