In Memory

David Wise

I was greatly saddened to learn of Dave's death last month from his daughter Amy.  Dave and I were boarders together, and good friends.  He was one of the guys I most missed not having seen since leaving DHS in 1963.  It was therefore a great pleasure to see him at the 50th Anniversary class reunion celebration, where I was pleased to discover he was still the same kindly and humble and laid back guy I knew at DHS.  Despite Dave's sporting prowess and achievements, the fact that I lacked those attributes was never an impediment to our being friends.  I have always respected him for that.  So go well my friend, you made this world a better place!

I too had not seen Dave since matriculation until the 50th Reunion. He and I were pretty tight our Matric year!. He was a prop forward and I was the hooker on the 1st XV team in 1963. I have fond memories of him -- precticing and travelling together..

He was a hard working forward and became a good friend. We shared the challenge and thrill of that last home game against Maritzburg College. Enjoyed catching up in our last conversation at the Banquet at DHS.

Sad news the passing of Dave Wise.

Dave the quiet ,gentle loose head who held the mighty College front row at bay in that testing 8 all draw, the final game of the year. Around the school and particularly amongst the boarders Dave was admired by all for his calm and friendly way. Dave was careful not to draw attention to himself and always had time to listen to others with that gentle smile always close.

We met Dave at the 50th Reunion and will remember him.
